Space is Only Noise (2014)

Space is Only Noise brings my skills as a dancer and musician into an on going research project. I’ve always been curious of the potential relationship between live sounds manipulated by one person, a dancer, and how integral movement is in the making of sound. From this project I hope to learn more about my relationship as a dancer to live sound, and how distance and sound in a space can have a fundamental effect on my body. I have always been drawn to the textures, tones, melodies and volume sound can achieve. I am curious to see how changing a space ‘sonically’ can effect a human body, and more specifically human movement.

Northern Souls (2014)

Northern Souls is a new live performance work on the subject of Northern Soul culture which utilises documentary, dance, video projection and live performance techniques to investigate what it means to be part of the Northern Soul community in 2014. It is a documentation and exploration of people’s relationship with the culture, touching on themes of human obsession, class, technology, age and physicality. It highlights the passion and soul for social dancing, revealing the humanity behind a shared belief and contextualising its place in contemporary culture.
